Please dont be offended.. help
I wrote this on other boards so I know most of you know what happened. Im sorry if its offensive.
:)
As you know I have been down and out for a month with major obstruction, bowel strangulation.. ... 3 surgeries and massive weightloss down to 110. They put in a feeding tube into my old stomach to feed me some medical nutriton and amp up my weight.
Very scarey, overwhelming... anxiety and depression.
So my request is......... can you give me low sugar suggestions for high caloric foods.
I know it goes out of bounds of the normal but I know we all know the things that bump us up in a bad way but as far as this goes I need all the little tricks I can get.
Thanks everyone... any support and prayers for my strength and weight gain so I can get this feeding tube out would really be appreciated.
Love to you all
Linda

What about glycerna? It's got a lot of protein, calories, but no sugar. They are very nummy too. Are you wanting higher fat as well? Are you just looking for "no sugar" or are you also trying to avoid carbs? Does your NUT help you much? Avocados are a good calorie and good fat choice, but they get old fast.
I don't see how your post could possibly be offensive...

I've been praying for you since I 1st heard and am glad to see you here. I can't think of anything right off the bat, but will give it some thought after I get my youngest down for her nap.

Nothing offensive about your request. You're facing a serious issue and we're all just here to help.
I ditto the nuts and add cheese - a spinach cheese dip or an artichoke cheese dip would probably add quite a few calories. Sour cream could also probably do some damage if you mixed it in to soups and what not. Go with a higher fat content of milk mixed into things.
It also seems that any SF sweets that I've looked at also seem to pack in the calories. Jus****ch out for the sugar alcohols.
Final suggestion - salad dressing.
Hmm, seems almost all of my high calorie suggestions are also high in fat. I think even the RF ranch dressings pack a pretty good calorie punch though.

Linda,
I had a big loss not too long ago (stress related). I lost 7lbs in one week. Not good when I'm already at the bottom of the "normal" weight scale. My doc and nut wanted me to gain some weight. My nut suggested I eat my normal meals and snacks but add 3 SF CIB's per day until I gained 5lbs, then lower it to 2 per day for another 2lbs, then 1 per day for another 2 lbs, then none unless I lose the gained weight. I'm having trouble keeping weight on also, not the same as you though. I've lost 5 of the 6lbs I had gained. So my surgeon readjusted my weight range, I am within that range, but 2lbs from being out of it. I never thought I'd ever have trouble gaining weight.
Good luck to you! I hope the tricks you learn on here help you,
Debi
